Ferry Elves Update 14th Dec

A wee up date from the Ferry Elves to everyone who has been so incredibly generous in supporting families who live locally and need a wee hand.

• We have now supported 14 families and 42 young people and will be available until Christmas Eve.
• We have tried to spend about £20 on each child with a wee bit less for babies and a bit more for teens.
• We have tried to give a gift to mum and/or dad as well.

The amount of support from the community has been incredible – we have folk making stockings , handing in gift wrap and unused clothes and toys. As far as possible each child has therefore received 6 items. We have deliberately not wrapped things so that parents are still in charge but we did add paper tags and tape. This has been all done with a promise of anonymity for families.

We have linked with other groups in the community- Rotary donated money to schools for winter clothing and we have linked with the schools to get these for children we are aware of. St Vincent de Paul are working with several families already in the community but by linking with us for presents and coats they are able to cover fresh food and fuel bills.

Finance wise, I had started saying to folk I knew, not to add to the just giving page – where we have over £800 . However we are now down to £80 which would only be another 4 children so I will try to contact those I put off in my panic of “oh no how will I return the unused money to anonymous donors” and say it would be safe, well used and very much appreciated to donate, if you are still willing and able.

Many, many thanks,
Anne Mitchell
