COMMUNITY POLICE SURGERY DROP IN – Re: Late night car gatherings

Saturday 11th July PC Martin Crow and PC Gill Young will be down at Hawes Pier from 1300 hrs to 1700 hrs with the community stall for folk to come down and chat.
The local police team have held a meeting with Road Policing and CEC, with agreement that the Hawes Pier Car park will be closed from 2200 hrs to 0500 hrs from tonight 10th for the remainder of July.

Local police are aware not everyone will be in agreement with this but in the last couple of weeks there has been a number of resources from Road Policing, CCTV and Community Police working on reducing this issue.

Police are also aware a number of the public are noting or sending in registrations numbers. Whilst at times this is helpful not all can be actioned as sometimes the vehicles involved are not doing anything illegal and should not be approached, video’d or details noted. Police are concerned that one or two are placing themselves in situations that are not appropriate and could leave them open to complaints. There must be a balance and the priority is the safey of the local community but hopefully we can chat more about this tomorrow.

Please note this is a community ‘drop in’ surgery not a public meeting (which would not be permissible presently). It is for one to one chat, questions, thoughts, concerns, ideas. Social distancing will be adhered to throughout, please do not arrive or gather in groups outwith the Scot Gov guidelines.

Please pop down at anytime time between 1pm and 5pm for a chat if you wish to ask any questions or raise any concerns.

Thank you
