Ferry Fair Festival – road closures

Due to our various events, there will be some parking restrictions and road closures from Thursday evening until Sunday noon. The traffic orders list below.

In essence, we will be building the stage on the High St on Thursday evening so need the High St museum area car park and whole area in front of East Terrace clear of vehicles. The stage will remain there until Saturday early evening.

Friday, the High St will be closed from 2pm-10:30pm for the annual events.

Then High St closed again on Saturday from 9am-6:30pm for a day of events and the crowning of the 2023 Ferry Fair Queen.
Burgess Rd, where the walking parade collates and leaves from will be closed 10am-12noon on Saturday.

Sunday morning the High St will close from 8am-12noon while we safely remove the flags.

Throughout the weekend there will be various parking restrictions to allow clear passage of diverted traffic and a clear run for the parade.

During the parade on Saturday morning there will be some short rolling road closure managed by police, reopening when the parade safely passes.

We respectfully ask for your patience during the various events. The vast majority of the public are great and accept the situation, sadly a small few deem it appropriate to abuse, debate (causing traffic back ups) and in some cases try to ignore closures or parking restrictions. Except for police and security on site, all other personnel managing the parade and stage construction are local volunteers, giving their time for the community.

We have discussed with contractors and Station Rd hopefully should be open to traffic from Friday afternoon until Saturday evening whilst the High St is closed. However it will be one side only outside the QHS section, so contraflow traffic light controlled.

We hope everyone enjoys the rest of what has already been a fantastic Ferry Fair Festival week.

Thank you for your patience
