I am writing with an update on our emergency repair to a burst rising sewer main in the private car park off Gote Lane in South Queensferry.
We knew it would be a challenging project given the depth of the damaged section and its location close to the sea wall and adjacent properties.
Unfortunately, the poor condition of the pipe has added to the difficulties, and we are now aware of a secondary burst in Gote Lane. As a result, we need to replace approximately 120 metres of sewer along the beach front and Gote Lane.
From Monday 11 November 2024 Gote Lane will be closed to vehicles, although pedestrian access to premises and businesses will be maintained.
We are also in the process of securing a marine licence to be able to carry out the necessary investigations to confirm ground conditions along the beach.
I have attached the letter we have sent to all customers which has more information and should help explain the situation.
We are inviting all residents who will be directly affected by the road closure to come and meet the project team at The Staghead Hotel on Thursday 14 November between 6pm and 8pm.
They will be able to discuss the measure we are putting in place to try and mitigate any disruption.
We are anticipating the work in Gote Lane taking up to six weeks to complete. The sewer replacement along the beach may take up to three months. Local businesses will remain open as usual and pedestrian access will be maintained.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We will be in touch again when we have more information. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Matt
